Women’s Volleyball Takes Loss in NEC Opener

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team lost in its Northeast Conference opener to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night. Sydney Green led the team in kills with seven on the night. Mia Ardila once again ranked first in assists with 10 in the defeat.

Rapid Recap

  • The Warriors found themselves down six early on in the first set. Cate Wright had a kill that stopped the Knight run. Fairleigh Dickinson then scored five straight points to go up 10. Merrimack battled back to pull within nine. An ace by Wright gave the Warriors 14 points, but it was not enough to spark a run in the first set.
  • Merrimack found themselves down just two points after a Wright kill. The Warriors followed it up with three more points to go up by one on a Megan Larson ace. The Knights then came back to take a three point lead of their own. Fairleigh Dickinson scored seven of the last eight points to take a set two victory.
  • Green had a kill to put the Warriors down two early in the third set. The Knights then took eight of nine points to go up nine. Merrimack battled back cutting the lead to seven after scoring four points in a row. Julz Carlat had two kills in three possessions, but it was not enough to win the set.
