In an unexpected turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the Bulgarian volleyball community, Deya Volley Burgas Italian head coach, Francesco Cadedu, announced his resignation immediately following the team’s latest victory. Despite leading his team to a 3-1 set win against Beroe 2016 of Stara Zagora in the 14th round of the Efbet Super Volley championship, Cadedu cited a lack of respect from his players as the reason for his departure.
The match, which took place in the “Mladost” hall, ended with scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-21, further cementing Deya Volley position as the leader of the league. The team, under Cadedu’s guidance until this surprising announcement, boasts an impressive record of 13 wins and only one loss, leading the championship with 38 points. In contrast, Beroe 2016 stands sixth, holding 20 points from seven wins and seven losses.
Cadedu’s abrupt exit comes as a shock, especially considering the team’s successful performance under his leadership. “I don’t want to talk about this match. This was my last game in charge of Deya. My players did not show respect towards me. Thank you for everything!” Cadedu expressed in a post-match statement, highlighting the internal conflicts that led to his resignation.
