In a thrilling final in Bangkok, Italy emerged as the Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 champions, defeating Japan in four sets (25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20). Paola Egonu led Italy with 27 points, contributing significantly with 23 attacks and four blocks. Myriam Sylla and Alice Degradi added 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Japan, despite a strong performance led by captain Sarina Koga with 17 points, secured silver, their best finish in the competition’s history. Arisa Inoue added another 11 points for Japan.
In the battle for third place, Poland defeated Brazil in a dramatic five-set match (25-21, 26-28, 25-21, 19-25, 15-9) to claim their second consecutive bronze medal.
Italy’s victory marks their second VNL title, having previously won in 2022.
