ASHLAND, Va.– The Elizabethtown men’s volleyball dropped their third CVC match of the season as Randolph-Macon defeated the Blue Jays, 3-0.
Randolph-Macon came swinging as they went up 9-3 on Elizabethtown after two consecutive service aces. Two Yellow Jacket errors cut their lead in half, 14-8. The Yellow Jackets rattled off seven straight points sealing the Blue Jays fate as Etown fell, 25-11 in set one.
Elizabethtown fought back to start set two as a kill and an ace from Tony Camillo put the Blue Jays out in front, 4-2. RM-C then put up four straight points before two errors tied up the set. After trading points, Etown went on a five point run after a Steve Swain kill, Nick Chapman ace, and Yellow Jacket errors. Randolph-Macon jumped to a five-point leading after tallying seven straight points. A Cheston Jacobs kill kept Etown within five points as RM-C led, 22-18. RM-C ended the set on a kill to win, 25-20.
Set three saw Randolph-Macon come out to 6-2 lead. The Blue Jays recovered as they recorded four points in a row. Kyle McKiernan and Chapman each smacked down a kill. With Etown down by two, the Yellow Jackets went on a 7-1 run, extending their lead, 19-11. The Blue Jays came within three of the Yellow Jackets as RM-C committed three straight errors. Randolph-Macon sandwiched an Elizabethtown point for the 25-21 win.
The Blue Jays are back in CVC action tomorrow as they face Eastern Mennonite at 2PM.
