#17 Utah Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season at Iowa State

The 17th-ranked Utah Volleyball team will make one final road trip of the regular season, traveling to Iowa State for a midweek showdown with the Cyclones on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. MT.  

Utah fans can tune in to ESPN+ on Wednesday with BJ Schaben(PxP) and Evan Wessling (analyst) on the call from Iowa State.

• The Utes move up to #17 the most recent AVCA top 25 poll. Coming off a pair of home wins against new Big 12 opponents, Utah defeated West Virginia (3-0) , before celebrating Senior Day with the third sweep in a row from the Huntsman Center and 14th sweep of the season, taking down Cincinnati.  

 • Utah returned to the top 25 in the week seven poll this season. This marks the first time since coming in at 22nd in the preseason of the 2022 poll. The Utes crack the top 20 for the first time since closing out the final poll of the 2021 season at #18. 

• The Utes spent three weeks in the receiving votes category, before cracking the top 25 in week seven at #20. Wk. 8 – #21, Wk. 9 – #22, Wk. 10 – #23, Wk. 11 – 20, Wk. 12 – #19. 

• As the 35th pick overall, Lauren Jardine was drafted by the Las Vegas Thrill of the Pro Volleyball Federation with the 3rd pick in the 5th round.

Vanessa Ramirez moved into second-place for all-time career digs against Cincinnati, finishing the day with six, she now has 1,613.

• As a team, Utah has averaged 14.0 kills per set with 12.9 assists per set. From the service line, the Utes are averaging 1.6 aces per set. On the defensive side of the net, Utah is posting 15.4 digs per set with 2.3 blocks per set.

• The Utes lead the all-time series against Iowa State, 3-1. Utah makes its first trip back to Ames since 1995, when the Utes suffered the only series loss, 0-3.  

• The last time Utah and Iowa State met was in September of 2018 at the Montana Volleyball Invitational, where the Utes came away with the 3-0 win.

• Utah has 158 aces as a team this season, ranking 9th in the rally-scoring era for a single-season as a team.

• The Utes have reached their most wins in a season since 2005.

• Utah’s .265 hitting percentage as a team has the chance to finish 2nd in the rally-scoring era for a team in a single season, trailing the 2006 team which finished with a .281 clip.
