Burns promoted from assistant to head coach at Rockford

The top three teams — all unbeaten — remained the same in the AVCA Week 3 poll as defending national champion Juniata (9-0) is followed by No. 2 Hope (8-0) and No. 3 Wisconsin-Oshkosh (13-0). No. 4 Calvin and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps round out the top five.

The top 10 in Week 3 also includes No. 6 Northwestern, No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 8 Johns Hopkins, No. 9 Emory and No. 10 NYU.

Other Region VIII/IX teams in the Week 3 top 25: No. 12 Washington-St. Louis; No. 14 Cornell; No 17 Transylvania; No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus; No. 19 Mount St. Joseph; No. 20 Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Cornell — ranked 17th a week ago — has achieved its highest position in program history for the second straight poll.

Region VIII/IX programs receiving votes this week: North Park; Augustana; Wisconsin-Platteville; Coe; Wisconsin-Stout.

My Week 3 top 10 had Cornell and Washington-St. Louis instead of the voter’s choices of Calvin and NYU.
