2024 Volleyball Season Begins at AVCA First Serve Showcase

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin volleyball team will kick off the 2024 season at the AVCA First Serve Showcase on August 27 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY. The four-team invite will feature four of the nation’s top collegiate programs, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

The AVCA First Serve Showcase is a one-night, exempt, event at the KFC Yum! Center on August 27. The 2024 season will therefore begin and end at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville with Louisville being the site for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball National Championship in December. The Badgers and Cardinals will be featured in the second match of the night, following Nebraska and Kentucky beginning at 6 p.m. (CT). Both matches will also be nationally broadcasted on ESPN 2.

As a season opener in 2014, the Badgers hosted the Cardinals and swept them, 3-0. The last time the two teams met, however, was at the 2021 NCAA National Championship with Wisconsin coming out on top in the five-set thriller, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-9. The Badgers own an 8-1 record all-time against the Cardinals.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 14 at 9 a.m. (CT) at the KFC Yum! Center box office and ticketmaster.com. There will also be a pre-sale period from June 10-13.
