COLCHESTER, Vt. – Fifty-four Saint Michael’s College student-athletes were inducted into 12 different academic honor societies during the 2022-23 school year, including nine into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and largest academic honor society. Founded in 1776, it promotes excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.
Nineteen of the Purple Knights’ 21 programs had at least one inductee during the 2022-23 school year, with women’s cross country (7) and Nordic skiing (6) – both coached by Molly Peters – leading the way. Alpine skiing (5), women’s soccer (5), women’s lacrosse (4), women’s tennis (4), field hockey (3), softball (3), men’s swimming & diving (3), women’s swimming & diving (3), and women’s volleyball (3) also all had at least three.
This spring, Saint Michael’s inducted a record 27 student-athletes as its 11th class into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, increasing its membership to 199.
