• Photo Roster of 2021-22 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars
ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference announced its Big Ten Distinguished Scholars on Thursday (July 14), with 94 University of Michigan student-athletes earning the distinction for their work in the classroom over the last academic year.
The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honor goes to student-athletes who recorded a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year. Michigan’s 94 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars mark the sixth straight year with at least 70 honorees.
Of Michigan’s 94 honorees, 14 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2021-22 academic year.
U-M had 171 fall Academic All-Big Ten honorees, 116 in the winter and 220 in the spring, bringing the academic year’s total to 507 for a new department record.
