20 Alabama Student-Athletes Set for Summer Commencement


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A total of 20 Crimson Tide student-athletes are slated to receive degrees during The University of Alabama’s summer commencement this weekend, including a two-time Olympian and All-American, along with six student-athletes who earned master’s degrees.

The Crimson Tide’s graduates are highlighted by two-time Olympic finalist and All-American gymnast Shallon Olsen, who is returning for her final season as a member of the Tide’s gymnastics squad this fall, as well as Emil Ekiyor Jr., a two-year starter on the offensive line.

Jerimiah Evans (men’s track and field), Darcy Jennings (rowing), Kieran McKeag (men’s track and field), Angelica Moresco (women’s golf), Michael Parker (football) and Mason Phillips (men’s track and field) all earned master’s degrees this summer.

In addition, Wade Wass, an All-SEC catcher for the Crimson Tide in 2014, completed his bachelor’s degree after five years playing professional baseball.

Combined with the 27 graduates who earned degrees following the fall semester and the 92 who earned degrees in the spring, 139 Alabama student-athletes took home diplomas during the 2021-22 academic year.
