LA CROSSE, Wis. – The No. 18 Taylor (10-3) volleyball team entered play on Friday in its final tournament of the 2022 regular season, a day on which the Trojans split a two-match set.
Taylor’s first matchup of the day was with No. 9 Viterbo (8-4), against whom the Trojans went blow-to-blow yet lost three-sets-to-one. Two of the four sets went beyond the traditional 25th set point, as two of the nation’s top teams put on a show. Unfortunately, the Trojans dropped each of those electric periods of play before dropping the fourth and final set 25-20 while suffering 13 errors in that set alone.
Freshman libero, McKaylah Flagle, put forth an especially strong performance, though, accumulating a season-high 21 digs throughout the four-set match.
Outside hitter, Anna Frey, also achieved a season-best 16 kills alongside 11 digs for her third double-double of the season. Meanwhile, Kacy Bragg posted her seventh 40-plus-assist performance of the 2022 campaign, racking up 46 assists in tandem with 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the year.
Trojan offensive duo, Arlanda Faulkner and Ryan Czerniak, combined for 27 additional kills, though their effort proved unable to overcome the V-Hawks on their home court as the Trojans lost three-sets-to-one.
Taylor’s second match of the day came against Rochester (2-8) and ended in a three-set Trojan sweep: 25-12, 25-19, 25-12.
Unfortunately, stats for the match are not currently available due to issues with the tournament-host stat operation. Tune back into TaylorTrojans.com in the coming days for when the stats become available.
No. 18 Taylor (10-3) is back in action tomorrow for day two of the Viterbo Tournament, when the Trojans are set to match up with RV Dakota State (6-6) at 10:00 am ET and RV Rocky Mountain (5-6) at 12:00 pm ET.
