Chaussee Named AVCA National Player of the Week


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville volleyball fifth year outside hitter Claire Chaussee has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the Week. 

Chaussee, the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as well, turned in a stellar week to help No. 2-ranked Cardinals defeat two top-25 opponents in rival No. 13 Kentucky and No. 9 Stanford. She opened the week with 16 kills hitting .371, six digs, and two blocks against the Wildcats in a five-set thriller that was aired on ESPN. The 6-0 Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native recorded 19 kills hitting .310 and four digs against Stanford. Chaussee has 113 kills through ten matches, hitting an impressive .310 on the season.

 

Chaussee and the Cardinals are now 9-1 this season and 5-1 against ranked opponents heading into conference play. UofL begins the ACC on the road at Miami on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET and Florida State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
