The matchup on Wednesday night marks the 49th all-time meeting against Boston College. The Orange lead the series, 38-10. In their most recent meeting, the Eagles took a 3-1 victory (Sept. 22, 2021). Syracuse’s most recent victory over BC occurred on Oct. 17th, 2020, where the Orange took the win in straight sets.
Across 40 seasons of conference play the Orange are an even 20-20 in conference openers. Since joining the ACC in 2013, the program is 5-4 in league opening action. Since both teams have been in the ACC, Syracuse is 3-1 against Boston College in ACC opening games. The Orange won three consecutive conference openers against BC from ’15-’17 and dropped the last opener in ’21, all matches went four sets.
Polina Shemanova currently ranks third in All-Time program kills with 1,591 total and is 15 kills away from the second all-time spot (held by Jennifer Murphy). To reach the top spot in program history, Shemanova needs to record 107 more kills (held by Dana Fiume 1997-00).
Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk ranks third in the ACC in the category of points per set (4.53, 51st nationally), fifth in kills per set (3.81, 75th nationally), and fifth in attacks per set (9.66, 120th nationally). Polina Shemanova is ranked third in the ACC in attacks per set (10.52, 64th NCAA), sixth in kills per set (3.79, 81st nationally), and fifth in points per set (4.30, 88th nationally).
Orange fans are in for a fun night on Wednesday, as it is Support Ukraine and Student Night. Fans can show their support by contributing to Ukraine relief efforts and there will be special giveaway for students in attendance. Admission to all home games is free.
