Volleyball Comes Back Against Hillsdale; Sweeps Grand Valley State Friday

HAMMOND, Ind. — The Lewis University women’s volleyball team took a pair of games at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament at the Hammond Sportsplex Friday. The Flyers came back from down 2-0 and won three straight to defeat Hillsdale then swept Grand Valley State in three sets.

FIRST SET: Hillsdale 25, Lewis 16

  • Hillsdale scored the first three points of the first set to go up 3-0. 
  • The Chargers were up 11-7 before rallying for three straight points.
  • Lewis would score the ensuing point after a kill by Van Loo but HC scored seven points in a row to grab a 18-8 lead. 
  • Hillsdale went on to win the first set 25-16. 

SECOND SET: Hillsdale 25, Lewis 19

  • The Chargers went up 6-1 early in the second set before Lewis scored four in a row after kills by Taki, Ray and Van Loo. 
  • Hillsdale was ahead 14-8 before the Flyers scored four in a row capped off by a kill by Schlechte. 
  • HC went on another rally to put away the set after going ahead 20-13.
