WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Back at home for the first time in two weeks, Wake Forest volleyball (12-10, 4-7) took on a major test in facing its third ranked opponent of the 2022 fall season: No. 7 Pittsburgh (21-2, 11-0). The Panthers ultimately swept the Demon Deacons in three sets (21-25, 13-25, 19-25) on Friday evening (Oct. 28).
Early in set one, setter Andrea Fuentes reached a significant, personal milestone by collecting the 4,500th assist of her collegiate career. The graduate student is second in total assists (376) on the Deacs’ roster this year, recording nine in the Friday match. Fuentes has totaled 1,421 assists in two seasons at Wake Forest.
Olivia Franke led the Deacons in kills for the first time this season, ending with eight. The junior additionally assisted on eight blocks.
Rian Baker played a balanced match to finish with 12 assists, seven digs, and three service aces.
Emma Farrell scattered around the floor to make a handful of plays, tallying a team-high 11 digs along with five assists.
Paige Crawford added seven kills and Ashley Slater had six. Both teams collected 34 total digs.
