GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech’s Julia Bergmann garnered her third Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honor, and North Carolina setter Anita Babic earned her third consecutive ACC Freshman Volleyball Player of the Week award.
Bergmann led No. 10 Georgia Tech to another undefeated weekend with 46 total kills, averaging 5.75 per set. With her 21 kills against North Carolina and 25 against NC State, the senior outside hitter posted her eighth and ninth matches of 20 or more kills to go along with her eighth double-double this season after recording a season-best 17 digs against the Wolfpack. Defensively, Bergmann recorded 25 digs, two blocks and an ace on the weekend. She continues to lead the ACC in kills per set (5.32) and points per set (5.93), sitting second in the NCAA in both categories. Her 383 kills and 427 points this season are both top-25 marks in the nation.
Babic averaged 8.83 assists per set on her way to tallying 67 total on the weekend. In a 3-1 victory over Clemson, she recorded her seventh game with 40 or more assists and, with 10 digs, her sixth double-double of the season. The Phoenix, Arizona, native tallied two aces, one against the Tigers and another in a four-set loss to No. 10 Georgia Tech. The setter contributed three blocks and added six kills for a .333 hitting percentage over the weekend.
