Women’s Volleyball Suffers Defeat Against Sacred Heart

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team lost a Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup on Friday night against Sacred Heart University.

Rapid Recap

  • The Pioneers started out the first set by going on a four point lead but the Warriors broke it up. Julz Carlat had the first kill for the Warriors, looking to bring them back by following up with two more kills in the early first set. Cate Wright had five kills in the first set, Maalese Wallace had three kills, and Avery Brown had two kills. The Warriors had a three point lead later in the set that would eventually be broken up by Sacred Heart. The Warriors lost the first set 25-19.
  • The Warriors wasted no time going into the second set by taking a four point lead with kills lead by Brown and Wallace. The Pioneers would break up the lead but the Warriors looked to take over the game still with another kill from Wallace, a kill from Mia Ardila and Hannah Webber. Sacred Heart eventually tied the game up and later on finished the second set with Merrimack only trailing by four (25-21).
  • Going into the third set, both teams traded the lead looking to gain the advantage over one another. Brown, Carlat, Wallace, and Wright looked to take over and help the Warriors win the set with a few kills along with a few blocks from Webber.
