UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Cassie Kuerschen, a sophomore defensive specialist on the women’s volleyball team, was recently named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Kuerschen, a science major, played a key role in helping Penn State go 24-7 overall, 13-7 in the Big Ten, and earn its 42nd-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She ranks third on the team in digs/set at 2.02 and has added 20 aces. She recorded double-digit digs 10 times during the regular season, including a career-high 17 in a three-set match at Nebraska.
The 2022 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
Penn State is a No. 4 seed and opens the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament with a home match against UMBC on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that match will play the winner between fifth-seeded UCF and Yale in the second round at Rec Hall on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
