Illini Trio Earns All-Big Ten Honors


ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten announced the postseason honors for the 2022 volleyball season on Wednesday morning as part of All-Big Ten awards. 

Raina Terry was named First Team All-Big Ten, Brooke Mosher earned All-Freshman Team honors and Diana Brown received the Sportsmanship Honoree for the Illini.

A unanimous selection, Terry paced the league with 363 points during conference play this season, averaging 3.04 points per set. The outside hitter placed second in the league standings with 315 kills during Big Ten play, posting 4.38 per set. The Marengo, Ohio, native logged 26 service aces during conference matches, finished second in the league with 0.36 per set.

Overall this season, Terry ranked first in the league with 0.41 aces, second with 4.80 points and fourth with 4.07 kills per set.

The outside hitter posted over 20 kills on three separate occasions during her junior campaign, all during Big Ten play. She tallied a season-high 24 kills against both Purdue (Sept. 30) and Penn State (Oct. 26). Her first effort came against Maryland (Sept. 23) where she logged 20 kills in a four-set battle on the road.

Mosher made an immediate impact on the Illini roster, ranking second on the team with 228 kills and 283.5 points during her redshirt freshman campaign. The Waterloo, Wis., native finished third on the team with 33 aces this season and 33 assists. 

In her first season on the court for the Orange and Blue, Mosher tallied a pair of double-doubles and recorded 20-plus kills on two separate occasions. Mosher amassed 21 kills during five-set thrillers against Wisconsin (Oct. 2) and Minnesota (Nov. 6).

A staple in the Illini lineup, Brown closed out her career with the Illini in 2022. A leader on and off the court, the setter concluded the season with 1,101 assists and 283 digs. Brown ranked fifth in the conference with 10.10 assists per set and averaged 10.07 assists during league action.

Minnesota’s Taylor Landfair was picked as the Big Ten Player of the Year. Ohio State’s Kylie Murr and Mac Podraza were named the Defensive Player of the Year and Setter of the Year, respectively. Eva Hudson of Purdue took home Freshman of the Year honors. Wisconsin Head Coach Kelly Sheffield was named Coach of the Year.
