154 Fall Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Big Ten Recognition

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference awarded 154 Northwestern student athletes Academic All-Big Ten honors, the school announced on Friday. The total is the third-highest in school history.

For the second consecutive year, all six of Northwestern’s fall sports reached double-digit athletes awarded. Five of the six programs had more than 90% of their eligible athletes honored.

Two programs saw all of their eligible student athletes earn distinction. In the wake of their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018, women’s soccer had 19 athletes awarded. During their own historic season, volleyball had 15-of-15 honored.

The football team tallied 67 honorees, marking the fifth-straight year the program has had more than 50 recipients. The total is the third highest in program history.

To earn Academic All-Big Ten distinction, an athlete must be in at least their second year at the institution and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0-or-better. The Office of Academic Services & Student Development plays a key role in ensuring that the athletic department succeeds in its mission of helping student-athletes perform well on the field and in the classroom.
