Zilbert Joins Huskies For The Fall

SEATTLE – Washington Head Coach Leslie Gabriel announced the addition today of defensive specialist/libero Grace Zilbert, a Portland native and transfer from the University of Portland. Zilbert has 838 career digs and averaged a career-high 3.29 per set during the 2022 season.

Zilbert joins former Michigan MB/OH May Pertofsky and former Wichita State setter Kayce Litzau as new Huskies to transfer in during the offseason.

Washington Head Coach Leslie Gabriel says the Huskies are getting a consistent and proven setter at the DI level.

“I am excited to introduce Grace to Husky Nation,” said Gabriel. “Grace is a strong, smart, and mature person and player. She loves the game of volleyball and is very passionate about learning and improving her game. Grace only knows one speed and that is to go hard and give everything she has. I am grateful for this opportunity to work with her this fall in her final year of eligibility.”

In her time with the Pilots, Zilbert has seen her defensive stats climb each of her four seasons. She averaged 2.06 digs per set as a freshman in 2019, improving to 2.20 in 2020, then 2.72 in 2021, and up to 3.29 last fall. Zilbert has also been a tough server, tallying 95 career aces, including averaging 0.36 aces per set as a freshman, and 0.32 aces per set last fall.

Zilbert said that when she visited the UW campus, “I was so impressed by the detail-oriented and thoughtful approach of everyone in the program. I’m honored and excited for the opportunity to learn at a high level and compete alongside this team. I can’t wait to experience everything this program, UW, and Seattle have to offer!”
