Johnson Selected to Preseason All-ACC Team

DURHAM – Duke graduate student Gracie Johnson was selected to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC Team, as announced Thursday by the conference office. 

Johnson was Duke’s engine last fall, but that’s no surprise with her impressive numbers on both sides of the ball. 

During her senior campaign, she saw her best offensive output since her arrival in Durham with 462 kills and a .203 hitting percentage. She also collected 53 aces, 217 digs and 43 blocks, proving she’s more than just an offensive threat. 

A 2022 first team All-ACC selection, she finished the season ranked in the top-50 of eight national categories and in the top-five of eight statistical categories in the ACC. She led the conference in total aces and was second in total kills and total points. 

Throughout her career, she owns 1,133 kills, 121 aces, 822 digs and 170 total blocks to go along with 18 career double-doubles and 16 games with 20 or more kills. She became the 28th Blue Devil to reach the 1,000-kill plateau in Duke’s five-set victory at Notre Dame (10/30). This fall, she looks to become the 13th player in program history to register 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs this fall.

Additionally, the ACC released its 2023 Preseason Coaches Poll as Duke was picked to finish seventh in the conference. 

Duke opens the 2023 campaign Aug. 25-27 at the Purdue Invitational.
