Urmia, Iran, August 21, 2023 – Thailand bagged their first crucial victory in the 22nd Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship after demolishing Uzbekistan in thrilling three-setter 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 at Al-Ghadir Hall 1 on Monday.
Suffering from the 0-3 loss in their opening Pool B clash to Japan on Saturday, Thailand came back much stronger in their must-win match against Uzbekistan to earn a crucial win and successfully move up to the next round to be among the top 12.
Thailand were working as a well-oiled machine on Monday, penetrating the rivals’ defence with their aggressive attacks and solid blocks to claim the first two sets 25-17, 25-20, thanks to awesome performances form Anut Promchan and Napadet Bhinijdee.
Uzbekistan tried to hit back bravely in an effort of reviving their fortunes in the third set, but the Thai defence proved impeccable, allowing the rivals scoring difficulties. With the wind in their sails, Thailand were superior in every department to eventually capture the set 25-16 for a sensational 3-0 win.
Napadet Bhinijdee led Thailand with 5 points, while Yuldashev Umidjon registered 3 points on the Uzbekistan’s losing effort.
