PULLMAN, Wash. — Iman Isanovic had a team-leading 11 kills while hitting .391 (11-2-23) as 13th-ranked Washington State volleyball (7-1) swept Towson, 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21), Thursday night in Bohler Gym.
The Cougars took advantage of 13 serving errors from the Tigers and tallied seven aces as a team in their fourth consecutive win to open the 2023 home schedule. Magda Jehlarova and Pia Timmer each finished with eight kills and Argentina Ung tallied another 32 assists with four digs and two kills.
Timmer was all over the court defensively on the night, finishing with a match-high 11 digs on top of a pair of aces serving.
The opening set saw five lead changes and 12 ties with extra points late as the Cougs needed a Towson service error to extend the set at 24-24. Washington State benefited from a long attack attempt on the ensuing point and Pia Timmer went crosscourt on a set assist from libero Karly Basham to finish off the first, 26-24.
The second set was tied at 14-14 when another kill from Timmer set off a 6-0 Cougar run to pull ahead in the set. Iman Isanovic gave the Cougs a much needed sideout with a kill to make the set 21-18, and Lana Radakovic later finished things off with her third kill of the match and first in the second set.
Radakovic had another three kills on four swings in the fourth set with zero errors (.750) and Jehlarova led the Cougs with four of her eight kills in the match coming in the third set to…
