Cougs eying second top-10 win Friday at sixth-ranked Texas on ESPN+

PULLMAN, Wash. — 11^th-ranked Washington State volleyball (9-1) will look to extend on its eight-match winning streak Friday night as it gets set to visit defending national champions, sixth-ranked Texas (5-2) from Gregory Gymnasium in Austin, Texas, beginning at 5 p.m. PST.  Friday night’s match will be broadcast live on Longhorn Network (ESPN +) as the Cougars get set to search to claim a third-consecutive top-25 win and a second win in a row against teams ranked in the nation’s top-10 after a four-set win over eighth-ranked BYU a week ago.

>> 11th-ranked Washington State picked up its second-consecutive top-25 win Wednesday night in a 3-1 win at 18th-ranked Baylor.  The two wins are the first back-to-back wins over the AVCA Top-25 for the Cougs since winning back-to-back top-25 matchups (vs No. 24 Colorado, vs. No. 6 Washington) to open Pac-12 play in 2021.

>> A win on Friday at Texas would be the first three-match winning streak over the AVCA Top-25 for the Cougs since 2018. WSU defeated No. 25 Utah, No. 23 Colorado, and No. 21 Arizona, back in 2018 — a Cougar team that finished the season with a run to the NCAA Sweet 16.

>> Washington State’s last back-to-back road top-25 wins fell early on in the 2018 season as it defeated 17th-ranked Northern Iowa in two consecutive road contests on the opening weekend of the 2018 season in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
