Ducks Host Oregon State in Home Opener


EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 6 Oregon volleyball team plays its Pac-12—and home—opener Friday, Sept. 22, when it welcomes in-state rival Oregon State to Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks close out the opening weekend of league play Sunday at UCLA. For the third time under head coach Matt Ulmer, Oregon starts Pac-12 play with just one loss: 2017 (7-1), 2021 (9-1) and 2023 (10-1).

Series History vs Oregon State
Dating back to the start of the 2006 season, the Ducks have won 30 of the past 34 meetings in the all-time series. Oregon enters Friday’s conference opener having won 17-consecutive home matches against OSU and are 11-1 in the head-to-head under head coach Matt Ulmer.
 
Series History vs UCLA
The Ducks have won three-consecutive matches in the series with UCLA, matching the program’s longest winning streak in the head-to-head. Dating back to the 2018 season, Oregon has the 7-3 advantage in the last 10 meetings. Both matches last season went to five sets including a reverse sweep by UO in the last meeting.
 
Last Time Out
Oregon closed out its non-conference schedule with a sweep at Marquette. The Ducks hit .333 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Mimi Colyer tallied a match-high 18 kills and 15 digs while Hannah Pukis dished out 39 assists to along with 10 digs. Defensively, UO held the Golden Eagles to a .111 hitting percentage on their home floor.
 
Weekend Warrior
Senior opposite Morgan Lewis posted 3.38 kills per set while hitting .487 during the final weekend of non-conference play. She began the weekend with a career-high 19 kills in Oregon’s five-set win at eighth-ranked Pitt. She registered 10 kills with no attack errors in 15 swings against Marquette. Lewis enters the weekend hitting .404 this season, good for fourth in the conference.
 
On the Run
Between the end of the fourth set and beginning of the fifth, the Ducks put together a 13-0 run in their comeback win over James Madison (Sept. 15). JMU led the match 2-1 but Oregon hit .486 over the final two sets to rally. Mimi Colyer had 10 of her 20 kills against James Madison in the final two frames.
 
It’s a Streak
Dating back to the 2021 season, Oregon has won 18 matches in a row at Matthew Knight Arena including a 14-0 home mark in 2022. The Ducks averaged over 2,200 fans per home date last season including top-10 MKA attendance…
