PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers fifth-year senior Alyssa Nayar was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday.

The Scarlet Knight setter put up 82 assists across eight sets averaging 10.25 per set against two top 25 opponents including an upset victory over No. 16 Minnesota giving RU its first-ever top 25 win.

Against No. 24 Ohio State, Nayar was just shy of a double-double with 37 helpers and nine digs. She also added two kills, two blocks and an ace against the Buckeyes.

 

On Saturday, Nayar posted her sixth double-double of the season behind 45 assists and 14 digs as Rutgers earned its first-ever top-25 victory in a 3-1 win against No. 16 Minnesota. The fifth-year senior also posted two kills and an ace against the Gophers.

 

On the year, Nayar is currently ninth in the Big Ten averaging 8.85 assists per set. At Rutgers, she is seventh in rally-era career leaders and sixth in rally-era season leaders.

 

Nayar is the second Scarlet Knight setter to earn the league’s Setter of the Week honor and fourth overall Big Ten weekly volleyball award winner.
