Head Coach Ryan McDonough ‘19 Releases 2024 Men’s Volleyball Schedule


ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men’s volleyball team released its 2024 season schedule on Friday morning. The Soaring Eagles, under second-year head coach Ryan McDonough ’19, are slated to play ten matches inside Speidel Gymnasium and 15 away from home. Their road slate features two invitationals at Baldwin Wallace University from January 20-21, and at Misericordia University from February 2-3.

The Soaring Eagles begin their season hosting a tri-match featuring Misericordia University and SUNY Poly on Saturday, January 15. Elmira looks to continue its winning form against Misericordia, sporting a 5-0 record in all contests against the Cougars. Elmira plays SUNY Poly later in the day, looking to keep its undefeated home record against the Wildcats.

The next weekend, Elmira heads to Baldwin Wallace for a three-match invite, facing off against first-year program Buffalo State and former Soaring Eagles head coach Dan Miranda for the first time in program history on January 20. The next day EC takes on the Yellow Jackets before its final match against Eastern Mennonite University, marking the first match between the Soaring Eagles and Royals since 2019 when Elmira emerged victorious in five sets.

The Soaring Eagles return home after their trip to Ohio, hosting a seven team invitational inside Speidel Gymnasium. Elmira is slated to play three matches in the invite, first facing off against Drew University on January 26. This marks the second-ever matchup between the two teams, with Elmira taking the previous match last season by a final of three sets to zero. The Purple & Gold then take on SUNY Potsdam later that day. Their final match of the invite will be against Kean University on January 27, as they host the Cougars for the first time inside Speidel.

As the calendar turns to February, the Purple & Gold travel to Misericordia for its second road invitational in 2024. Their first match comes on Friday, February 2, against Rutgers University-Newark for the third-ever matchup between the two programs and first since March of 2019. Each of the previous matches have ended in five sets, with EC sporting a 2-1 record against the Scarlet Raiders.
