Mayville St. to remain in NAIA

Mayville State, which entered the NCAA Division III exploratory phase upon the realization of its NAIA conference’s future disbandment, will remain in the NAIA after accepting an invitation to the Frontier Conference last month.

MSU had representatives from Division III’s Upper Midwest Athletic Conference on its campus in March, stating publicly that travel, sports offered and the ability to dole out athletic scholarships were driving factors in finding a future home. The North Dakota university seemingly will settle for going 1-for-3 on that wish list as the Frontier Conference has a core of Montana schools along with football affiliates spanning to Oregon and Arizona in addition to not sponsoring baseball or softball.
