Sweep Splits Series – Stanford Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. – In a complete team effort, No. 7 Stanford bounced back to sweep No. 6 BYU, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21, Saturday, in Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal (9-9, 2-4 MPSF) hit .299, while holding BYU (11-7, 2-4 MPSF) to a .224 clip. Stanford tallied a season-high 12 aces and racked up 9.0 blocks and 22 digs. Six different Cardinal notched an ace, including four with two or more.

Outside hitter Kevin Lamp led the team with nine kills on .421 hitting, four digs, three blocks and two aces. Opposite Moses Wagner added eight kills, four digs, a block and two aces.
 

Setter Nathan Lietzke dished out 30 assists and posted five digs, two blocks, two kills and three aces. Libero Luke Turner tied for a match-high with six digs.
 

Middle blocker Nathaniel Gates hit .600 with six kills on 10 errorless swings and had two blocks and an ace. It was the second-highest attack percentage in a match this season by a Cardinal with a minimum 10 attempts.
 

Outside hitter Will Rottman totaled six kills, two digs, three aces and three blocks, including one of the solo variety. Middle blocker Ethan Hill finished with five kills and a match-high five blocks.
 

BYU was led by outside hitter Miks Ramanis’ match-high 16 kills on .444 hitting, six digs and two aces.

Stanford will be idle for the next two weeks before preparing to travel to No. 4 UCLA on March 29-30.
