Sophomore Grace Lopez was the standout for Miami, delivering 20 kills total, including key points in the third set turn-around when Miami went on a 3-0 run after trailing 24-23. Lopez, a 2023 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, led the Hurricanes through the reverse sweep with clutch performances throughout.

Texas, known for their dominance at home (147-11 over the last decade), struggled to maintain their early momentum particularly as Miami neutralized their offense in the final three sets.

This victory also marked a significant milestone for Miami head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara, who earned his 200th career win. The Hurricanes’ undefeated start to the season is turning heads in the volleyball world, and have a good chance at making an appearance in the rankings following this landmark victory.
