Arizona Falls to No. 19 Baylor in Four Sets

WACO, Texas – The Wildcats lost their first match of the season on Wednesday night at Baylor. Arizona fell in four sets (18-25, 23-25, 25-16, 17-25) and is now 11-1 (0-1 Big 12) this season.  
 
Two Cats had double-digit kills led by Jaelyn Hodge who tallied a season-high 21 kills while hitting .354. She also had 10 digs to record her first double-double of the season. Carlie Cisneros totaled 11 kills, nine digs, and two blocks. Arizona’s defense out-blocked Baylor 11.0-7.0 and was led by Journey Tucker with a career-high-tying six blocks and Avery Scoggins with a career-best five blocks.
 
Baylor won the first set of the match, 25-18. The Cats fell behind early and were never able to catch up to the Bears in the opening set. Hodge led Arizona with five kills, but Baylor’s defense held Arizona to a .125 hitting percentage in the set.
 
The Bears took the second set, 25-23, in a back-and-forth set with nine lead changes and 17 tie scores. The Wildcats served four aces but the Bears hit .400 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Hodge led Arizona with eight kills and Cisneros followed with four kills but it wasn’t enough for the Cats.
 
The Wildcats won the third set, 25-16, to force a fourth set. Arizona used a 10-0 run to take the lead in the set and hit .440 as a team to overcome the Bears. The Wildcats’ attack was spread across four players – Hodge had five kills, Cisneros and Kiari Robey had three kills…
