Volleyball Swept Despite Ryan Milestone

Dickinson

The Muhlenberg volleyball team had its playoff push delayed by a 3-0 home loss to Haverford.

The Mules (10-12, 4-5) would have clinched a Centennial Conference playoff with a win. They are now in seventh place in the CC, one game behind the Fords (12-12, 5-4) and a half-game behind Ursinus (5-5). Muhlenberg can secure a spot in the playoffs with a win against Dickinson in Saturday’s home finale if Haverford wins at Swarthmore. A Haverford loss to Swarthmore (and a Muhlenberg win) would leave three teams tied at 5-5 for the final two spots.

The loss spoiled a milestone night for sophomore Jenny Ryan, who recorded 17 assists to surpass 1,000 for her career. Ryan (pictured above) is the 12th player in program history to reach quadruple digits in assists.

Muhlenberg’s best chance to take a set came in the second. The Mules hit .279 and recorded 18 kills in the set but trailed 24-20 when freshman Abigail Oswari came off the bench to serve. She served an ace on her first try, and subsequent kills by senior Esmae Oehler and sophomore Natalia Agnolet brought Muhlenberg to within a point.

The Fords called timeout, however, and scored the final point of the set before taking the third, 25-16.

Oehler finished with a double-double, recording 11 kills and 12 digs. Junior Christina Marcin added 10 kills, while sophomore Chloe Gaglione finished with 10 digs.
