Arizona Takes Down Cincinnati in Four Sets

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Wildcats beat the Bearcats in four sets on Thursday night (25-15, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20) in Cincinnati.     
 
Three Wildcats had double-digit kills and Arizona tallied 13 blocks to overcome the Bearcats. Carlie Cisneros led the offense with 13 kills, Kiari Robey followed with 11 kills, and Jaelyn Hodge had 10 kills. Robey recorded a season high nine blocks – four solo and five assists.
 
Arizona took the opening set, 25-15. The Wildcats used multiple runs to take the lead 1-0 over the Bearcats. Wilson led the attack with five kills and Arizona hit .353 in the first set. The Cats’ defense had five blocks to hold Cincinnati to a .000 hitting percentage. Hodge and Robey both had three blocks to lead the defense.
 
Cincinnati won the second set, 25-19. Arizona was held to a .114 hitting percentage and Cincinnati served four aces to even the match. Wilson recorded four kills while Cisneros and Hodge had three kills.
 
The Wildcats won the third set, 25-22, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Cincinnati out-hit Arizona but the Wildcats served four aces to overcome the Bearcats. Alayna Johnson had five kills with a .833 clip to lead Arizona. Robey and Sydnie Vanek both had three kills. Avery Scoggins served two aces to help Arizona win the set.
