EDISON, NJ – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball freshman outside hitter Mckenna Shotwell earned a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie Team as announced by the league office this morning.
The Tennessee native, put out 250 kills, including a career best 16 kill performance for a sweep against Marist to commence their three-game win streak. Shotwell also added a season-high 21.5 points during this matchup.
The freshman notched 3 consecutive double-doubles against Marist, Siena, and Manhattan, consistently tallying double digit marks in kills and digs. Shotwell is joined by seven other competitive freshman from top ranked teams in the Metro-Atlantic Conference.
Shotwell, along with the rest of the women’s volleyball team prepare for the MAAC Volleyball Championships on Thursday. Merrimack is set to battle #6 Niagara in the first round, with game time scheduled for 7 PM.
