LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.– The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team dropped to the Rider University Broncs in the second round of the MAAC Championships on Saturday night. The Warriors gave it their all but ultimately couldn’t top conference foe, #3 Rider.

How It Happened
The Warriors opened the match strong with Lilly Konrad serving to kickstart a 5-2 run. The Warriors would hold a two point lead until the Broncs notched five straight points featuring two kills from Santiago Kiannisha to pull ahead 23-19. Julz Carlat brought momentum for the Warriors, setting up five straight points to win the set, 26-24. Rider would score the first five points in the second set, and then quickly double their lead to make it 10-3. The Warriors notched three kills to close in on the Broncs however, Rider had other plans as a powerful 6-2 run sealed the deal for the Broncs to win set two 25-13. In the third set, the Warriors were first on the board, tallying four straight points but the Broncs continued to push back, slowly closing in on the Warriors. Tied at 13, the Warriors registered five consecutive points however, the Broncs, led by Santiago Kiannisha scored the final five points of the set to win, 25-22. In the fourth set, Rider would be the first on the board and would extend an early10-3 lead over the Warriors. Mckenna Shotwell and Julz Carlat delivered four total kills in attempt to close the gap however, the Broncs remained persistent notching the final kill to win set four 25-22.
