Abby Detering

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers volleyball head coach Caitlin Schweihofer has announced the addition of two new members of the Scarlet Knights staff. Abby Detering joins the team as an assistant coach while Bailey Williams has come on board as the squad’s director of operations.

Detering is a familiar face to Big Ten fans as a former AVCA All-American standout at Penn State. She arrives “On The Banks” after serving three seasons as an assistant at Kent State.

During her career at Penn State, Detering saw time at setter and right side, totaling 1,793 assists and 254 kills in two seasons. She earned AVCA All-America honorable mention recognition as a senior while helping the Nittany Lions post a 33-2 record and an appearance in the national semifinals.

Following her graduation from Penn State in December of 2017 with a degree in communication arts and sciences, Detering turned pro signing a professional contract to play with SG Kelag Klagenfurt of the Austrian A1 League. She also played for Pays d’Aix Venelles.
