Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, April 29, 2024 – Al-Hilal Airlines suffered nail-biting 1-3 loss to hosts Al-Ahly in their last match on Sunday, but still reigned supreme over the Saudi Arabia Premier League Volleyball Championship at the Ministry of Sports Hall ini Jeddah, with Dr Khaled Al-Zughaibi, President and Chairman of Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation, presiding over the awards presentation.
Dr Khaled Al-Zughaibi crowned the eventual champions Al-Hilal Airlines team with the Premier League Championship Cup and gold medals for this season despite their 19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25 loss in the well-fought final match on Sunday, with Abdulaziz Al-Rumaihi and Ahmed Al-Rajab carrying out their functions as respective First and Second Referees.
Al-lttihad Members Bassem Mangal and Nayef Rajab crowned the Al-Ittihad team with silver medals after finishing second place, while Al-Ibtisam claimed third place and bronze medals.
For Al-Hilal, the eventual title was the 19th time in history achieved by the team. Al-Ahly hold the largest number of championships with 25 titles, with Al-Ittihad and Al-Muhait each claiming one apiece.
Other matches on Sunday saw Al-Khaleej bounce back to beat Al-Lttihad in tie-break 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 15-6 and Al-Ibtisam demolish Al-Safa in straight sets 25-18, 25-22, 25-14. Al-Nasr outplayed Al-Wahda in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 25-19, while Al-Faisaly pulled off impressive 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-14) victory against Al-Hidaya and the exhausting match between Abha and Damak ended in epic tie-break win 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-27, 15-11 in favor of Abha.
