Alabama Drops Three-Set Decision to Mississippi State Sunday in Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Alabama volleyball dropped a three-set decision to Mississippi State on the road Sunday by set scores of 16-25, 20-25 and 21-25.

Alabama (10-3, 0-2 SEC) couldn’t apply pressure from the service line, ending with a season-low three aces while Mississippi State (8-4, 1-1 SEC) had eight, coupled with 10 service errors from the Crimson Tide. Callie Kieffer earned her fourth double-double of the season, leading the team with 27 assists and 13 digs. Micah Gryniewicz led the team with 11 kills, her seventh match this season with double-digit kills.

“I’m proud of the way our ladies fought tonight. Even though we lost, ultimately the majority of the time we were right there with Mississippi State. We gave up a lot of points and when you’re in tight matches you have to eliminate some of those errors whether it’s miscommunication or service errors or whatever. We have to control the things we can control and be really disciplined.”
