EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Ohio Valley Conference announced Saturday morning that University of Southern Indiana Volleyball junior middle hitter Bianca Anderson earned All-OVC Second Team honors in a strong third season for the Screaming Eagles.
Anderson broke out with season bests across the board in 2023. However, the middle hitter continued to improve in 2024 with 288 kills, marking a 44-kill improvement from 2023. She finished with 2.64 kills per set, ranking second on the team along with boasting career bests in both categories. Anderson totaled 14 double-digit kill nights with her season best performance of 18 kills coming against Southeast Missouri State University.
Anderson excelled at efficiently converting kills this season with a team leading .294 hitting percentage, ranking seventh in the conference for the entire season. The junior stepped up in conference play with a .303 percentage in league play, converting on 184 slides and swats through the middle in 18 OVC matches.
Defensively, Anderson fired up her squad with 71 (0.65 BPS) total blocks on the season for another career high. Her highlighting performance came against University of Tennessee at Martin, where she swatted a team season best eight blocks in only three sets.
The Eagles missed the cut for the OVC Tournament, hosted by Southeast Missouri State University this year. However, Anderson is only a junior and is poised to bring the Eagles back into conference contention in 2025.
Claiming OVC Player of the Year honors was Tennessee Tech University’s Madolyn Isringhausen. The Golden Eagles outside hitter compiled a monster year with 523 kills, 5.12 kills per set in conference play, and earned a National Player of the Week Honor. SEMO’s, Nina Schuberth snatched OVC Defensive Player of the Year, while Lindenwood’s Allie Otten captured Setter of the Year. Lindenwood’s Autumn Bax shinned in her first season earning Freshman of the Year, while her coach Will Condon was named coach of the year.
