Anna Bair Announces Return for 2023 Season


OXFORD, Miss. – A staple of the offense over the past four seasons, Ole Miss volleyball’s Anna Bair announced she will utilize her extra year of eligibility and return for a fifth season with the Rebels.

“Anna has been a terminating factor in Ole Miss’ success,” said head coach Bre Henry. “Her confidence and ability to take a match into her hands and be a powerhouse on the pin is something we are looking forward to again next year. Having the opportunity to watch her continue to grow her presence in the gym and SEC for a fifth year is something our program and the Ole Miss community are very excited about.”

Bair returns for a fifth season after earning back-to-back AVCA South All-Region honors the past two years. She is one of 15 student-athletes in Ole Miss history to tally 1,000 career kills, ranking 12th all-time with 1,148 and is just 52 away from cracking the top-10. A key piece of the attack ever since stepping on campus, Bair has appeared in 101 matches in a Rebel uniform.

Last season, Bair started 12 matches at outside hitter for the Rebels and appearied in all but two contests. She led the Ole Miss attack, compiling 344 kills while hitting at a .255 clip. Further her 3.37 kills per set ranked 13th in the SEC. The St. Louis native racked up double-digit kills in 19 of her 26 matches played on the year and was one of three Rebels to record a 20-kill performance.

As a junior, she started 10 matches and appeared in all but one, guiding Ole Miss to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years. She helped the Rebels record their best winning percentage in program history (.700), including its first 20-win regular season since 2013. She led the offense with 369 kills, averaging 3.45 per set (11th in the SEC) and paced the team in scoring with 394 points all while recorded double-digit kills in 22 matches.

In her first season in an Ole Miss uniform, Bair appeared in the Rebels’ first 27 matches with 12 starts before missing the rest of the season with injury. She is the only player in program history to earn back-to-back league weekly awards, after being dubbed SEC Freshman of the Week during Weeks 2 and 3 of the season.
