Arizona Beach Volleyball earns postseason academic awards

The Arizona Beach Volleyball program received the AVCA Team Academic Award and was named to the Team Academic Honor Roll for having a team GPA in the top 20% nationally.

This is the ninth straight year the Sand Cats have earned the Team Academic Award and the fifth straight year the team has been named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Arizona Head Coach Steve Walker praised the hard work of current and former athletes as well as the support provided by staff at the University of Arizona.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our current and former teams that have been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for their outstanding performances in the classroom,” Head Coach Steve Walker said. “As the famous saying goes, it truly does take a village, and I am once again so very grateful for the work all of the folks in CATS Academics have done to support the beach volleyball team and all of our student-athletes. We preach having a healthy team culture and I’ve always looked at classroom performance as an indicator of that.”

The Sand Cats ended the fall and spring semesters with a 3.728 team GPA and a 3.653 team GPA, respectively.
