Arizona Swept by Oregon State

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats lost to Oregon State in straight sets (22-25, 18-25, 24-26) on Friday night in McKale Center.
 
Arizona’s defense totaled eight blocks with Nicole Briggs and Sofia Maldonado Diaz leading the way with four blocks each.
 
Oregon State won Set 1, 25-22. Arizona hit .333 in the set – led by Maldonado Diaz with five kills and Jordan Wilson with three kills. Oregon State out-hit the Wildcats to win the opening set.
 
The Wildcats lost the second set, 18-25. Despite Arizona recording five blocks and holding the Beavers to a .062 hitting percentage, Oregon State aced the Wildcats three times and held Arizona to a .029 clip. Jaelyn Hodge had five kills and two blocks in the set. Briggs and Maldonado Diaz had three blocks each.
 
Oregon State won the match with a 24-26 victory in Set 3. Arizona was out-hit and out-blocked by Oregon State in the set. Wilson tallied four kills and hit .429, but it wasn’t enough to force a fourth set.
 
The Wildcats welcome No. 6 Oregon on Sunday, November 19 at 12 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
