IRVING, Texas – Arizona Volleyball freshman Avery Scoggins was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
At the Wildcat Classic, Scoggins recorded 75 assists and averaged a conference-leading 12.50 assists/set to help Arizona improve to 11-0. The New Bern, N.C. native notched her third double-double of the season when she tallied 38 assists and 10 digs in Arizona’s sweep over North Dakota State. She also tallied 37 assists and seven digs in the Wildcats’ sweep over Southern Utah.
Scoggins totaled 17 digs, two kills, and one ace during the Wildcats Classic. She ranks second in the Big 12 and eighth in the nation with 11.13 assists/set this season.
Scoggins and the Wildcats will open Big 12 play on the road at Baylor and TCU. Arizona opens the week against Baylor on Wednesday, September 25 before heading to TCU on Friday, September 27.
