Avery Scoggins Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week


IRVING, Texas – Arizona Volleyball freshman Avery Scoggins earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season, announced by the conference on Tuesday. She is the first Wildcat to earn conference freshman/rookie of the week honors twice in a season since Puk Stubbe in 2021.
 
Scoggins helped Arizona split the week against Colorado and Houston with 78 total assists and 38 total digs. She set a career high with 19 digs in both matches and her 38 digs led the team. The New Bern, N. C. native recorded 45 assists in Arizona’s four-set win over Houston – her fourth match this season with 40 or more assists.
 
She recorded a pair of double-doubles with 33 assists and 19 digs against Colorado and 45 assists and 19 digs against Houston. Scoggins also served two aces and had two blocks during the week.
 
Scoggins and the Wildcats will host rival Arizona State on Thursday, October 24 at 6 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
