Babcock Named AVCA National Player of the Week


PITTSBURGH – Freshman right side Olivia Babcock has been named the AVCA National Player of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon. This is her first national award and the seventh overall, including six ACC honors. Babcock is the second Panther in program history to earn the award, the first since Kayla Lund who received the recognition in September of 2021. Lund notched 40 kills in two wins over then No. 9 Baylor and Tennessee, hitting .337. 

Babcock registered a match-high 15 kills on 23 swings with zero errors in the sweep against No. 8 Georgia Tech on Friday night, hitting .652, a career-high recording 10 or more kills. She also contributed four blocks, three digs and two aces. In the match, Babcock averaged 6.33 points per set, 5.00 kills per set, 1.33 blocks per set, 1.00 digs per set and 0.67 aces per set.
