Badgers start the week with a sweep

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A dominating performance at the net led the seventh-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 win over Indiana Wednesday night.
 
The Badgers (10-3, 4-1 BIG) and Hoosiers (9-8, 2-3 BIG) battled through a first set that featured nine ties and three lead changes. Wisconsin led 22-19 before Indiana went on a 3-0 run to knot the score at 22. A kill by Danielle Hart put the Badgers up 23-22 before three straight IU errors gave the Badgers the set.
 
In the second set, UW led 13-6 thanks to a 5-0 run but the Hoosiers went on their own 5-0 run to cut the lead to one (14-13). Indiana would get no closer as the Badgers doubled up the home team 10-5 over the final stretch to take the set 25-18. 
 
After trailing for most of the third set, Wisconsin broke at a 16-all tie with five straight points to lead 21-16. Sarah Franklin keyed a late run with two kills, including the match winner, to complete the sweep.
 
Wisconsin hit .274 (40 kills – 11 errors – 106 attempts) while holding Indiana to just .139 (37-21-1125). Franklin put away a match-high 13 kills while Hart added 10 kills.
 
Gulce Guctekin lead the Badgers in aces with two while MJ Hammill and Julia Orzoł contributed one each. 
 
Izzy Ashburn led the Badgers in assists, putting up 17 helpers. Hammill closely followed with 12 assists to support the offense.
