SEATTLE– No. 11 Huskies return to Alki Beach on Friday, looking to extend their winning streak at home on April 12th and13th. The Huskies enter this weekend with the highest ranking in program history after they jumped two spots to No. 11 on the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, thanks to taking down multiple ranked opponents last weekend. That undefeated performance also earned Zoey Henson and Lauren Wilcock National and Pac-12 Pair of the week.
In the Alki Beach Invitational beginning on Friday, the Huskies will play Oregon at 10:00 a.m., Boise State at 12:30 p.m., and No. 15 Georgia State at 4:15 p.m.
The invitational is a Round Robin-style tournament where every team plays each other once. The teams will then be seeded for the semifinals and finals, based on the results from the previous day.
Also, the Beach Dawgs will host a ceremony after the 1:45 p.m. dual on Saturday to honor the excellent careers of Piper Monk-Herich, Maia Nichols, Shannon Gormally and Scarlett Dahl who all contributed to the best season last year and the records broken on this year’s run.
Last Weekend at the Pac-12 North Tournament
The Huskies posted a 3-1 record last weekend at the Pac-12 North Tournament here at home. They opened with a major win against No. 12 Arizona, 3-2. The Dawgs followed that up with a 4-1 loss to Stanford to close out day one. On Saturday, the Beach Dawgs bounced back, took down Cal, and then swept Oregon 5-0 to end the weekend.
