SEATTLE – Washington Beach Volleyball is back on the West Coast for the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, California. Washington stays ranked at No. 13 after their trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the LSU Tiger Beach Challenge. The Huskies are still striving for another Top-20 win with two chances this weekend vs No. 20 Tulane and a rematch vs No.9 California. The Cal Poly invitational is hosted by the Mustangs, April 1-2. With a double-header on both Saturday and Sunday, the Huskies will have to battle all weekend long.
First up for Washington is No. 20 Tulane. The Green Waves are currently 13-5 on the season with a notable wins vs No. 19 South Carolina and No. 12 Stetson earlier in the season. No. 1 pair Samantha Mehlman and Emily Heintzelman, who are a recent AVCA pair of the week, will be a tough match for Washington’s No. 1 pair.
Next up for the Huskies are the California Golden Bears. This will be the second meeting of the two teams this season, the first went to Cal in a 4-1 victory over the Huskies. Washington will be looking for revenge and hopes to get their first Top-10 win of the season.
On Sunday, the Huskies will start the day off vs UC Davis at 10 am. UC Davis is currently 13-6 on the season and 5-2 in the Big West conference with notable tough 3-2 loss to No. 8 Hawaii last weekend.
Lastly, the Huskies will face host Cal Poly to finish out the weekend. The Mustangs are currently 7-17 on the season.
