SEATTLE —  The University of Washington Beach Volleyball team opens their week in Austin, Texas against Houston Christian at 9:00 a.m. and the University of Texas at 2 p.m. PST on March 20th.

The Huskies will then compete in Fort Worth, Texas as they take on Arizona State, Texas Christian, Florida International, and Florida Gulf Coast.

Weekend in Review

The Huskies are coming off their first major slate of conference duals, having gone 2-2 in the Pac-12 South Tournament in Tempe, Arizona on March 8th and 9th. During the tournament, they beat Utah, extending their winning streak against that team to ten games with a 5-0 victory. The Beach Dawgs picked up their second-ranked win, beating No. 19 Arizona 4-1.

The Beach Dawgs went blow for blow with No. 3 USC in every match, with all Husky pairs scoring at least 17 points in a set once, but they still fell 0-5. The Huskies also lost to UCLA 0-5 on the final day of the Pac-12 South Tournament.

Scouting report

The Huskies won their first game of the season against Houston Christian 5-0 in February and are once again facing a struggling HCU squad.

The Texas Longhorns played well against No. 11 Arizona State, eventually falling 2-3. But last weekend they picked up their first win of the season against Nebraska as they opened their season.

The Huskies are taking on No. 13 Florida International squad, who opened up the season on an eight-game winning streak and is currently 14-3. The Panthers picked up a ranked win against No. 16 Florida Atlantic.

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles are 9-9 and have won matches against a few ranked teams, such as Florida International and Texas Christian, but ultimately lost the duals.

The Huskies are looking to get revenge on No. 4 TCU after they lost to the Horn Frogs in February. The Frogs are 14-2 on the season, as they just picked up a close win against No. 16 Florida Atlantic.

No. 11 Arizona State comes into this week with four ranked wins to go along with their 11-3 record and on a two-dual winning streak.

In the Rankings

The Huskies enter this week’s AVCA Rankings at No. 14 for the third straight week.
